Transporters Cancel Major Mexico City Roadblock

The authorities of Mexico City have called off the major roadblock by transporters that was planned for the city's main avenues. The decision was made with the aim of maintaining dialogue and strengthening ongoing efforts in favor of a fair fare and just conditions for the transport sector.

Previously, the Broad Transport Force (FAT) had announced the protest to demand that the government of Mexico City standardize the public transport fare with that of the State of Mexico. According to media reports, the main roadways to be affected included the Mexico-Pachuca Highway, Paseo de la Reforma, and others.

According to the newspaper La Jornada, the protest was a response to the inaction of the head of government, Clara Brugada Molina. However, as reported by the newspaper Reforma, transporters canceled their plans after a working meeting with the Secretaries of Government and Mobility. The coalition stated that these officials have failed to materialize an agreement in their favor, despite promises from the mayor to increase fares for the transport sector.
